Bestiary and Charms

Every creature you kill fills its Bestiary entry. Completing entries gives charm points, which unlock charms: permanent bonuses you assign to the creatures you hunt.

Opening the windows

Press Systems in the menu grid and choose Bestiary or Charms in the Game Systems window. In the Bestiary, pick a class (Amphibic, Dragon, Undead…) and then a creature; the search box only finds creatures you have already killed.

Kills and stages

Each entry has three stages. Every stage you reach reveals more of the creature (characteristics, loot, locations) and the last one completes the entry and gives its charm points. Most creatures need:

5 stars2002,0005,000100
  • Very rare creatures need only a few kills (usually 5) and give extra charm points; the window always shows the real numbers of each creature.
  • Each kill counts once. A kill can count twice with the Bestiary Betterment concoction or the Double Bestiary upgrade of the Bounty Talisman.
  • Loot items appear in the entry as you progress through the stages.
  • Press Track kills on an entry to follow its progress in the tracker while you hunt.

Charm points and minor echoes

Charms come in two kinds, each with its own tab in the Charms window and its own currency:

  • Major charms are paid with charm points, which you earn by completing Bestiary entries.
  • Minor charms are paid with minor charm echoes. You get 50 echoes for unlocking a major charm, 100 for upgrading one to tier II and 200 for upgrading one to tier III; promoting your vocation also gives 100 echoes once.

Every charm has three tiers. Unlock buys tier I; the same button then upgrades it to tier II and tier III, each with a stronger effect.
