What the forge does
Most good weapons and armour pieces have a classification from 1 to 4 (shown in their description). Classified items can gain tiers, and every tier makes their special bonus stronger. You raise tiers at the Exaltation Forge.
| Classification | Highest tier |
|---|---|
| 1 | 1 |
| 2 | 2 |
| 3 | 3 |
| 4 | 10 |
| Item | Tier bonus |
|---|---|
| Weapons | Onslaught: chance to deal extra damage |
| Body armours | Ruse: chance to dodge an attack |
| Helmets | Momentum: chance to shorten your spell cooldowns |
| Legs | Transcendence: chance to briefly turn into your vocation's avatar |
| Boots | Amplification: strengthens your other tier bonuses |
Look at an item to see its tier and the exact chance of its bonus.
Getting to the forge
- The forge stands in the Adventurers' Guild. Use one of its forges to open the Exaltation Forge window.
- To get there, use an adventurer's stone while standing in the centre of a city temple. The temple NPCs give you one; a lost stone is replaced for free once and then for 30 gold.
- The exit teleport of the guild takes you back to the temple you came from.
- The forge is open to every account, free or Premium.
Dust, slivers and exalted cores
| Resource | How you get it | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Dust | Killing influenced and fiendish creatures. It is stored on your character, not as an item. | Every fusion and transfer |
| Slivers | Dropped by fiendish creatures (3 to 7), or 60 dust → 3 slivers in the forge | Making exalted cores |
| Exalted core | 50 slivers → 1 core in the forge | Better fusion odds and transfers |
- You can hold 100 dust at the start. In the Conversion tab, Dust limit raises it by 1, paying (current limit - 75) dust, up to 225.
- Dust over your limit is lost, so convert or spend it before it fills up.
Influenced and fiendish creatures
Across the world, some creatures are touched by the forge and carry a mark next to their name.
| Kind | Strength | Dust per kill | Extra loot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Influenced (1 to 5 stacks) | +50% to +110% health | stacks to 3 × stacks | May drop lesser gems |
| Fiendish (15 stacks) | +260% health | 15 to 45 | 3 to 7 slivers; may drop gems |
- Up to 300 influenced and 4 fiendish creatures exist at the same time.
- A creature stays fiendish for up to one hour; then another creature somewhere else becomes fiendish.
- In a party with shared experience switched on, every member gets their own dust from the kill.
- The gems are for the Wheel of Destiny.
Fusion
Fusion puts two copies of the same item with the same tier together to raise one of them by one tier.
- Both items must be in your backpack and have no imbuements.
- Cost: 100 dust plus gold (table below). The gold can come from your bank.
- Base chance: 50%. Tick Increase success to spend 1 exalted core for +15% (65%).
- Success: the first item gains a tier and the second item is used up.
- Failure: the first item keeps its tier and the second item loses one tier (an item of tier 0 is destroyed). Tick Reduce tier loss to spend 1 exalted core and cut that risk to 50%. Dust, gold and cores are spent either way.
| Lucky bonus on a success | Chance |
|---|---|
| Dust not spent | 16% |
| Cores not spent | 5% |
| Second item kept with the same tier | 4% |
| Gold not spent | 0.25% |
| Second item kept with one tier less | 0.25% |
| Second item kept with one tier more | 0.25% |
| Two tiers instead of one (when the classification allows it) | 0.25% |
Gold cost per tier
The gold of a fusion depends on the classification and the tier you are aiming for.
| Target tier | Class 1 | Class 2 | Class 3 | Class 4 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 25,000 | 750,000 | 4,000,000 | 8,000,000 |
| 2 | - | 5,000,000 | 10,000,000 | 20,000,000 |
| 3 | - | - | 20,000,000 | 40,000,000 |
| 4 | - | - | - | 65,000,000 |
| 5 | - | - | - | 100,000,000 |
| 6 | - | - | - | 250,000,000 |
| 7 | - | - | - | 750,000,000 |
| 8 | - | - | - | 2,500,000,000 |
| 9 | - | - | - | 8,000,000,000 |
| 10 | - | - | - | 15,000,000,000 |
Transfer
A transfer moves the tier of one item to another item, losing one tier on the way.
- Donor: an item of tier 2 or more. It is destroyed.
- Receiver: an item of tier 0 with the same classification. It gets the donor's tier minus one.
- Cost: 100 dust, the gold of the donor's tier (table above) and exalted cores (table below). A transfer always succeeds.
| Tier the receiver gets | Exalted cores |
|---|---|
| 1 | 1 |
| 2 | 2 |
| 3 | 5 |
| 4 | 10 |
| 5 | 15 |
| 6 | 25 |
| 7 | 35 |
| 8 | 50 |
| 9 | 60 |
| 10 (convergence transfer) | 85 |
Convergence (classification 4)
Items of classification 4 have two extra options. Tick Convergence fusion or Convergence transfer in the window.
- Convergence fusion: two classification 4 items of the same slot and the same tier, not necessarily the same item. It always succeeds, costs 130 dust and its own gold price, and uses no cores.
- Convergence transfer: from a classification 4 item of tier 1 or more to another classification 4 item of tier 0, keeping the full tier. It costs 160 dust, its own gold price and the cores of that tier.
| Tier | Convergence fusion | Convergence transfer |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 55,000,000 | 65,000,000 |
| 2 | 110,000,000 | 165,000,000 |
| 3 | 170,000,000 | 375,000,000 |
| 4 | 300,000,000 | 800,000,000 |
| 5 | 875,000,000 | 2,000,000,000 |
| 6 | 2,350,000,000 | 5,250,000,000 |
| 7 | 6,950,000,000 | 14,500,000,000 |
| 8 | 21,250,000,000 | 42,500,000,000 |
| 9 | 50,000,000,000 | 100,000,000,000 |
| 10 | 125,000,000,000 | 300,000,000,000 |
Good to know
- The forged items arrive in an exaltation chest in your backpack, so keep one free slot in it.
- The History tab lists every fusion, transfer and conversion you have done.
- Items with imbuements do not appear in the forge: clear them first.
