Griffin Shield Quest
Under Northport, the small village north of Carlin, a switch hidden behind a tree opens the way into the Maze of Lost Souls. Whoever finds the guarded hall at the very bottom of the maze can search two piles of bones and a dead body for a griffin shield, a dwarven axe and an obsidian lance.
Requirements
- Level 30 (gates of expertise at the entrance of the maze)
- A shovel and some food: the way there and back is long
- The maze is full of dragons, dragon lords, giant spiders and orc leaders; the final hall holds 2 dwarf guards, 2 minotaur guards, 2 stone golems and 3 elf arcanists
- A group is strongly recommended
How to complete

Step 1
Go to Northport, the village north of Carlin, and dig the loose stone pile on the grass just east of the houses with your shovel. Climb down.
Ground Floor -
Step 2
Follow the cave south to the trapdoor and drop one floor further.
Floor -1 -
Step 3
Keep going south until you reach a small forest inside the cave. Behind the middle tree there is a hole: go down.

Step 4
Read the sign of Zhandramon and turn the switch to the right. Far to the north the muddy floor opens into a hole for five minutes. If the switch is already turned right, turn it left and right again.

Step 5
Go back north, through the muddy field with the energy fields, and enter the hole before it closes.

Step 6
You land between four gates of expertise (level 30): you are inside the Maze of Lost Souls. The ladder brings you back up if you need to leave.

Step 7
Deeper in the maze, next to a sign that reads "Pull the lever!", stands a lever: do not touch it, it surrounds you with energy fields.

Step 8
Work your way down through the maze to its southern part on the third floor under the entrance. A shaft of trapdoors and ladders in the south-east leads straight down, floor after floor, to a staircase with a "Welcome to Demona" sign.

Step 9
Kill the guards of the hall at the bottom and search the dead body and the pile of bones for the obsidian lance and the dwarven axe.

Search the pile of bones in the east of the hall for the griffin shield.

Tips
- The hole of the entrance closes after five minutes: pull the switch, then run north without stopping.
- Everything in the hall is dropped by the bones and the body only once per player; friends have to search them themselves.
- The gate of expertise west of the hall (level 60) leads to Demona, the city of the dark magicians.
- There are several ways out of the maze; the ladders of the shaft bring you back up to the third floor.

In the cave under Northport, north of Carlin, a switch behind the middle tree of the underground forest opens a hole in the mud that leads into the Maze of Lost Souls. Find your way down through the maze to the guarded hall at its bottom and search the pile of bones and the dead body of the fallen warriors.
