The Paradox Tower Quest

Requirements

• Premium account
• 4 skulls, 6 fruits (melon, banana, cherry, red apple, grapes, coconut), a white knight and a black knight (chess pieces)
• The copper key from the dead tree north of the tower
• The Feared Hugo story (Oldrak, Zoltan, Padreia, Lubo) and, for the last question, a visit to A Prisoner in Mintwallin
• 1000 gold for the prisoner's lesson

How to complete

1. Step 1

   Get the key first: north of the tower, beyond the minotaur caves, a dead tree hides the copper key. The tile in front of it is booby trapped and poisons you badly: step around it, not onto it.

   

2. Step 2

   Learn the story of the Feared Hugo. Ask Oldrak about Hugo and the myth until he mentions Yenny the Gentle; ask Zoltan about her until he mentions Crunor's Caress; ask Padreia about it until she mentions a footnote; ask Lubo about Crunor's Cottage, the flower guys, the accident and the stable. Only then will the Riddler test you.

3. Step 3

   Enter the tower: on the mountain top, lay a skull on each of the four sacrificial stones and step on the switch between them. You appear in front of the tower.

   

4. Step 4

   Ground floor: wait until the jungle grass at the door has grown, then step on the plate. The stone in the north turns into a staircase for 45 seconds; hurry.

   

5. Step 5

   Second floor: set the six switches in the order right, right, left, left, right, left (the book on this floor spells it backwards), then pull the lever by the stairs.

   

6. Step 6

   Third floor: pull the lever to create a crate, push the crate onto the plate in the north-western corner and the staircase appears.

   

7. Step 7

   Fourth floor: unlock the door with the copper key. Put one fruit on each of the six tables (melon, banana, cherry, red apple, grapes, coconut) and pull the lever.

   

8. Step 8

   Fifth floor: place the white knight and the black knight on the two marked tiles and pull the lever. The stairs stay for 45 seconds.

   

9. Step 9

   Sixth floor: the Riddler. Ask for the test and answer his questions on the three seals. Any mistake sends you to Hellgate. Choose a colour when he asks for one and remember it: he will ask for the same colour next time. The last question ("What is 1 plus 1?") can only be answered with the number the prisoner teaches you; failing it once is expected.

   

10. Step 10

    Go to Mintwallin, under Thais, and ask A Prisoner about math. Answer yes, give him the colour you told the Riddler, pay his 1000 gold and he tells you your personal number. Come back and pass the last question with it.

    

11. Step 11

    Treasure room: two rows of plates lie between the door and the four chests (from west to east: phoenix egg, 100 platinum coins, 32 talons, wand of cosmic energy). Every plate you step on destroys the reward of one chest and any path crosses at least two. Walking straight north from the door: 1st column keeps talons + wand, 2nd keeps platinum + talons, 3rd keeps platinum + wand, 4th keeps egg + wand, 5th keeps egg + platinum, 6th keeps egg + talons. Then open the two surviving chests.

Tips

• Bring everything with you before you start climbing: two of the staircases vanish after 45 seconds.
• The Riddler's questions follow the old lore of the tower: the names of the three seals, what has no breath, what grows old... Read the books on your way up.
